Rainforest IPC

We had a busy first two days back after the Songkran holiday creating a beautiful rainforest display outside the year 4 classrooms.

We have started using an exciting new curriculum called IPC - the International Primary Curriculum. This curriculum is topic based, and our first topic is called Saving The World: Rainforests.

For our entry point to the topic, both classes worked very hard to create a magnificent rainforest display (see the pictures below to see how the project developed)

Please read the comments below to see what 4KS did and what they know about rainforests.

Science day madness!

Today was science day, and we had so much fun!

First, we had a very explosive assembly with Mr Kirk. We then created some wonderful science t-shirts using oil pastels. After lunch, things got very crazy and extremely messy! We made cups out of two pieces of card, and then had a relay to see how good our designs were. Some children's cups only lasted one run (like poor old Mew!), whereas others were still good to go after 3 or more runs! (Well done Peace and Wow!) We then had a competition to see who could make the longest possible straw that could still suck up water from a cup. Finally we got to the best, and messiest, bit - we made slime! The slime was really strange because it acted like a solid and a liquid at the same time. All you need is a cup of cornflour and half a cup of water to try it out yourself!

Have a look at our wonderful photos to find out more.

Last Friday, each  year group sung a song as part of a Primary Christmas production. We worked really hard on learning the song 'Winter Wonderland' and making up a dance to go with it.

Here are some pictures of us in action!

Learn about different animals

Can you sort animals into the correct category? Play the game here.

Remember, a mammal is an animal that is warm blooded, has a backbone, and has hair or fur covering its skin e.g. a rabbit, lion or a human.

A reptile is cold blooded, lays eggs, and often has scales e.g. a snake or lizard.

An insect has 3 pairs of legs, 3 parts of its body and often 2 pairs of wings, e.g. butterfly or bee.

An amphibian can live on land or in the water. It is cold blooded and lays larva which starts off by breathing through gills, like a fish. When it is an adult, it breathes using its lungs. Examples are frogs and salamanders.
